Spirit of sacrifice

What is a spirit of sacrifice?

The word spirit comes from the Greek breath. Breath is that which gives life (vital breath, breath).

The word sacrifice comes from the Latin sacrificium, composed of sacer and ficium, meaning the 'act of making, manifesting the sacred', that is, the 'act of passing from the sphere of the profane to the sphere of the sacred.'

In the Portuguese language it has the meaning of 'privation, voluntary or forced'.

And sacred office means holy work.

But having a trade is different from having a service.

It's a job to do what you choose to do, even if you experience many waivers.

Sacrifice and sacred office is what enriches you in every way and also enriches the world.

But more broadly, how do we make sacrifices?

When we make choices that lead us to waivers.

For example: only those who have a spirit of sacrifice, renunciation travel, because they will have to give up their home, comfort, accessories, food, customs...

But there are people who do not tolerate sacrifice, but live in 'suffering'.

And what is suffering?

Suffering derives from the Latin sufferre or 'under irons, chained as a slave or prisoner'.

Suffering means tolerating, enduring, consenting, conforming, resigning and living a continuous and intense unhappiness.

When we are not aware of the choice we have made (and not choosing is a choice), we enter a state of deprivation and suffering.

Giving an example: there are people who “choose” to travel to another country, but are not aware of their choice.

In addition to enjoying the trip, they want to eat feijoada and sleep as if it were in their beds.

Then they enter a state of suffering.

They experience the trip with feelings of loss and not of waivers.

There are moments when Life asks us to be in a “spirit of sacrifice”.

Regardless of the choice we made to study, get married, have children, etc., we must think about the countless sacrifices we will make.

So be careful not to fall into pain!

Those who don't choose or who don't take responsibility for their choices suffer, those who don't give up anything.

Who behaves like a child, who throws a tantrum with life, when you have to give up playing and go to bed.

But the point is that humans are very childish!

We want to have everything and we don't make contact with our choices and possible waivers.

We experience everything as loss and suffering!

Thus, living in a spirit of sacrifice is living conscious of our choices and the choice that Life “offered” to us and consequently of the countless renunciations that we will make.
